Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program Facts

The Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program helps girls realize their full potential and become strong resourceful citizens.

The Cookie Sale Program has been an important activity for the Girl Scouts in our council and has been giving girls the opportunity to learn and practice a variety of valuable life skills.  In partnership with committed adults, girls develop qualities that will serve them all their lives, like strong values, social conscience, and conviction about their own self worth.

The purpose of the Program Girl Scout Product Sales Program is twofold.

First and foremost the Girl Scout Cookie Sale Program, helps girls develop a wide range of life and business skills such as:

Responsibility - through gathering orders and turning in information on time.

Communication skills - through talking to customers about the cookies and how the funds will be used.

Financial and Math Skills - through adding orders, making change and tracking money.

Entrepreneurial Skills - through creating new ways to sell and distribute cookies.

Secondly the Girl Scout Product Sale Program generates income for Girl Scout troops, councils, and GSUSA. All of the proceeds - every penny - from Girl Scout cookie activities remain in the thirty counties and six cities of Central Virginia where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and some of it indirectly by subsidizing the cost of providing the Girl Scout Program.

Girls experience the power of goal setting, by establishing their own personal goals while working towards group/troop goals in a fun environment.

Reinforcement of the Girl Scout Scout Cookie Program enables the social consciousness of girls through opportunities for community service
