Charmers

The Charmers program is a fun and exciting way to promote a positive image of Girl Scouting and achieve visibility in the community.  Charmer Girl Scouts are needed to appear in media-related projects, such as television or radio spots, magazines, newspaper coverage or United Way projects.  Other appearances made by Charmers include flag ceremonies, speaking at council-sponsored events, presenting gifts to guest speakers and dignitaries, presenting a volunteer with balloons and flowers, participating in  parades, and accompanying executive staff to community events.  Charmer Girl Scouts may also be featured in the council’s marketing and promotional materials.

Often requests for participation in an event may come with as little as a few hours notice.  But Charmers are always prepared.  Through real life experiences, Charmers gain valuable self-esteem by learning presentation skills, etiquette, and poise in their roles.  By becoming a Charmer, the marketing department at GSCCV will have quick and easy access to willing participants.

All Girl Scouts are eligible to become Charmers.  To register, complete an application form and submit to the Brandon English, Marketing Specialist. Once registered, Girl Scouts become Charmers and will be contacted as opportunities arise.  Charmers application forms are available on the council’s website at http://www.comgirlscouts.org/PDF/marketing/CharmerApplication.pdf. For more information about the Charmers program or becoming a Charmer, contact Brandon English at 804-764-3334 or benglish@comgirlscouts.org.

Qualifications to be a Charmer include:
-Being registered with the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council.
-Having access to a formal or informal Girl Scout uniform.

Any Girl Scout or troop may participate in the program.

Through real life experiences, Charmers gain valuable self-esteem by representing Girl Scouting to the public.  Girl Scouts learn about presentation skills, etiquette, and poise in their roles as Charmers.
