Introduction

Proceeds from the Girl Scout Product Sales Program provide fund for troop activities and help underwrite council programs. In addition to providing funds for troop activities, this program offers experiences that meet the needs of girls and enable them to grow and develop qualities fundamental to the purpose of Girl Scouting, like leadership, strong values, social conscience and conviction about their own potential and self-worth.

Through participation in this program, girls will have an opportunity to be involved in acclivities an experiences tat enable them to:

  • develop to their full individual potential
  • relate to others with increasing understanding skill and respect
  • develop values to guide her actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making
  • contribute to the improvement of society through the use of her abilities and leadership skills,working in cooperation with others

Girl Scout Commonwealth Council of Virginia Inc. (GSCC) strictly adheres to Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. (GSUSA) standard that council sponsored sales are program related.


Benefits

Girls learn important skills in team-work, managing money, leadership, goal getting, record keeping, decision making, and how to work with adults and sister Girl Scouts in a fun-filled setting.

  • The council sponsors programs in the arts, sciences, personal growth, cultural heritage, and the out-of-doors for girls ages 4-17.

  • The programs afford girls the opportunities to travel, receive scholastic and camp scholarships, and by virtue of their Girl Scout affiliation, girls benefit from privileges and opportunities from the community afforded exclusively to Girl Scouts.

  • Proceeds enable GSCC to maintain and operate two camps Pamunkey Ridge Girl Scout Camp and Camp Kittamaqund, as well as council facilities in Midlothian, West End Richmond, Mechanicsville, Fredericksburg, Colonial Heights, and the council van.

  • Girl Scout troops keep a portion of the proceeds and the girls, through, the democratic process, decide how to spend the money they've earned.

  • Sales programs provide resources and training opportunities that enrich Girl Scout adults so that they can effectively assume their volunteer roles in position such as troop leader.
