Sonya Benavides, Chair

Girl Scout Commonwealth Council of Virginia Alumnae Program

Sonya Benavides is a native of North Carolina, but has lived in Virginia for the past 12 years.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Commerce from The University of Virginia and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Richmond.  She and her husband, Roberto, reside in Hanover County.  She has 14 years of progressive accounting responsibilities at companies in the Richmond area and currently serves as the Manager of Securities and Exchange Commission Reporting at LandAmerica Financial Group. Sonya was first introduced to the Girl Scouts in North Carolina as a troop member.  Recently, she has participated in several volunteer activities that have directly supported the Girl Scout Commonwealth Council of Virginia.  In addition to volunteer activities, when away from work, Sonya enjoys reading, trying new recipes and new wines, and playtime with her two cats.
