Annual Giving
Commit to a Girl
Since 1913, every girl's participation in Girl Scouting in our community relies completely on the full support of the local community to enable Girl Scout Commonwealth Council (GSCC) to continue to provide quality leadership programs to every girl everywhere in central Virginia.
More than 90 years ago, a woman with a revolutionary idea told the nation that she had something for all girls. That woman was Juliette Low, and the gift she brought to women has grown to become the world’s preeminent organization for girls.
The Annual Fund/Family Campaign theme is “Commit to a Girl.” The theme underscores the organization’s mission to build girls of courage, confidence and character, to make the world a better place. GSCC relies on the financial generosity of donors to live out our mission. The Girl Scout Council is a registered 501(c) (3) non-profit organization. All donations received are tax deductible and directly support the girls. We are girl-centric and, yes it takes money to keep the doors open. Financial gifts support our outreach programs, program costs, educational scholarships, camp scholarships, property maintenance and improvements, training and general operating needs such as management of four service centers. With your support, Girl Scouting will be there for an ever-increasing number of girls, some of whom may not otherwise have the chance to participate, and for future generations.
The Commit to a Girl/Family Campaign supports our camp properties, helps at-risk girls, and offers scholarships to our deserving graduates. You choose which area you want to support. Family participation in the Commit to a Girl/Family Campaign demonstrates to the community (Corporations and Foundations) that our internal members are giving to full capacity.
